The Process

“I have this driving fascination with process. When I see a piece of art, a Twinkie, or anything manufactured, I always ask how it was made. As a result, most of my work has multiple processes which play a part in the the journey of each piece. I do plan most of my work, generally starting with a sketch or 3D model. However, I try to ensure that each creative work retains a life of its own by giving it freedom to wander and deviate from my original plan. In my opinion, mistakes and improvisation are key elements which separate art from manufacturing. There is an open dialogue between myself and each piece in progress. It tells me what it wants to become and I do my best to oblige.”-Larry Cole
